8 Watt Output Power Amplifier by TDA2030
Overview The circuit was designed to produce a power amplifier based on a single integrated circuit TDA2030 with an output power of 8 Watts. Terminology - TDA2030 – a 14 W monolithic integrated circuit in Pentawatt package intended for use as a low frequency Class AB amplifier with features such as high output current, low crossover distortion, low harmonic, short circuit and safe operating area protection, and thermal shutdown
- Power Amplifier – a type of amplifier built and designed for the purpose of delivering and supplying sufficient and maximum high output power to directly drive loudspeakers or loads, within a given percent of distortion
Circuit Explanation The power amplifier obtained its term with respect to the amount of power delivered to the load or taken by the supply circuit. Its main purpose is to take a signal from a source device and make it suitable for driving a loudspeaker. Using the IC TDA2030 can provide the possibility of delivering 20 W of power output. In this circuit, the output power was maintained to 8 W as it serves as a supply to 10 W speaker systems. It will be designated as the last amplifier in a transmission system since it is the amplifier stage that normally will require the most attention to efficiency of power. Ideally, greater output is expected from the higher input levels without any distortion being heard from the circuit. The resistors R1 to R3 regulate the gain of the circuit. All power amplifiers contain a power supply, an input stage, and an output stage. Since the IC TDA2030 is cheap and affordable in the market, it can be considered as a good replacement amplifier for audio power systems that is range from low to medium. In actual operation, the efficiency of the loudspeaker is responsible for determining the volume of the music. They can also be used in quality hi-fi applications to provide sufficient energy for amplification of signals originating from AC wall socket. Some advanced usage includes active phase radar application and cellular transmission by providing a power level 8 W for the CDMA carrier since it was designed for single-channel repeaters, microcells, and towertop applications.
