Controlling Servo Motors with OOPIC

Controlling Servo Motors with OOPIC

Overview

The controller project utilizes oServo Object of OOPIC to control RC servos by focusing on 5 properties including the I/O line to use, the position of the servo, the mechanical center of the servo, the rotational direction of the servo, and refreshing the operation of the servo.

Explanation

A device that moves its actuator to a position specified by a controlling electronic signal refers to a standard Radio Control (RC) Servo. A complete servo system consists of servo control circuitry, drive circuit, gearbox, potentiometer feedback device, and motor. The servos exist in several sizes that range from very fast to very powerful.

Since the servo is connected to 31 I/O lines, the I/O line property is used to specify which one of the lines will be used to control the line of the servo. Any I/O lines can be used but other Objects can only use certain I/O lines. There are normally 3 wires used by RC servos involving the Power, Ground, and Control. The position of the servo is specified by the control wire which is connected to the I/O lines and can be represented in any color other than red or black.
