The project is built around the MAX6675 chip which produces the result reading to the attached LCD screen by taking and amplifying the millivolts produced by the Cold-Junction-Compensated K-type thermocouple.
The project is an analog Geiger counter that is capable of detecting and measuring the three forms of radiation including alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.
Using the PIC18F252 or PIC18F2525 as capture device, the project was designed to build a low cost logic analyzer while showing the display on a Windows based PC.
