MPXV5100 Pressure Sensor Interfaced with ATmega8

MPXV5100 Pressure Sensor Interfaced with ATmega8

Overview

The project shows the convenience of interfacing MPX5100 series of pressure sensor to microcontroller or microprocessor with A/D inputs.

Explanation

A state of the art monolithic silicon pressure sensor designed for a wide range of applications is the MPX5100 series piezo-resistive transducer. The interface to microcontroller is a thin-film metallization and bipolar processing to provide an accurate, high level analog output signal that is proportional to the pressure. It can be applied for pressure switching, pump/motor control, process control, and patient monitoring.

The device is ratiometric within a specified excitation range and the offset voltage is defined as the output voltage. The output voltage at the maximum or full rated pressure is the full scale output voltage and the algebraic difference between the output voltage at full rated pressure and the output voltage at the minimum rated pressure referred to as full scale span voltage.

The time for the incremental change in the output to go from 10%/90% of its final value when subjected to a specified step change in pressure is the response time. The warm-up time is required for the product to meet the specified output voltage after the stabilizing pressure.
