Thermostat and Arduino Combination Known as ThermoSmart

Overview The project is a web controlled and monitored Smart Thermostat or better known as ThermoSmart which is a combination of Arduino and Thermostat that can function in manual or auto mode. Details The construction of ThermoSmart is composed of Arduino Duemilanove, Arduino Ethernet Shield, temperature sensor, relay, transistor, resistors, diodes, and other electronic components. The information of the current temperature, heating status, and threshold levels can be obtained through the local network or internet using the web interface. The heating can be set remotely to ON, OFF, or AUTO mode as well as setting AUTO mode for the min/max thresholds. In order to get accurate readings, a LED and the LM35 temperature sensor was added. The heating turns ON when 5V is applied to the relay’s coil as the relay was used to close the appropriate connections for getting the heating started. A 1N4004 diode and a 2N2222 transistor are used in order to control the relay while a resistor needs to be in series with the LED. According to temperature in its middle foot, the LM35 sensor outputs mV. Two diodes and an 18K resistor were used to provide more precision. Rest of the project
