A Single-Sided Circuit Board by Using Conductive Pens

Overview

The project illustrates the construction of a circuit board wherein only one side has the printed wiring while on the other side are all the components.

Details

The success of the project was due to the utilization of the Mobius strip which has a surface with only one side while having only one boundary component since being non-orientable is its mathematical property. This can lead to taking a paper strip to easily create a model that will be given a half-twist and the ends of the strips will be joined together so a loop will be formed. Since this project will only require to draw the conductive silver ink throughout the Mobius strip.

The main heart of this single-sided circuit board is using the ATtiny2313 which consists of 17 available output pins on a 20-pin device. A single red LED will be driven with each output and a 3V type CR2032 lithium coin cell will be used to power the whole device. The design begins with the placement of socket for the Attiny2313 and then placing the LED locations fairly uniformly along the length of the strip. Programming the microcontroller is the last step.
