Developing NIXIE Duo and NIXIE Driver Simultaneously
|
|
Overview The project illustrates how a dual Nixie board and Nixie tube driver kit were made to connect together for the purpose of interfacing Nixie’s to a microcontroller. Details The device includes two shiny IN-12A Nixie tubes, two phenolic sockets, and all the other components required. A Nixie duo is being prepared by the Nixie driver to receive serial input from an external microcontroller and power from a Nixie tube power supply. For rows of humming digits, these assemblies can further string end-to-end. Through the two printed circuit mounting phenolic sockets, Two IN-12A type nixie tubes can be supported by the Nixie duo board. To address multiple pairs of Nixie tube digits, a shift register chain can be used since the Nixie board is designed to be supported by the Nixie driver board which permits a microcontroller to address the two nixie tube digits. The physical connection of multiple digits can be done easily by the edge connecting header pins. The minimum digit spacing is made possible by this densely packed configuration while serial data connections and power are threaded to all elements. The Nixie tube requires the correct orientation before being inserted. Rest of the project
