Propeller Clock with POV Effects
|
|
Overview This propeller clock project is a modified version which uses a PIC16F84A microcontroller to create the POV impression. Explanation The original propeller clock was rebuilt using higher intensity LEDs. A rubber plate was placed above an unmodified DC motor for insulation and a washer on top which is isolated from the metal case of the motor. The washer was connected to 5V while the metal case of the motor is connected to ground. Through a sliding contact to the washer, the 5V is obtained by the spinning board while ground is through the spinning center of the motor. A small notch is put on the outer end of the washer and the pulse is picked up from the notch using a pick-up wire on the spinning board. The wire was replaced with infrared sensor and on the side of the motor is an installed infrared LED. The design of the clock contains simple modifications like feeding the power of the clock through the armature so the while the motor is not running, the clock has power. This will not require any memory capacitor or battery since the motor power is independent of clock power. Rest of the project
