5V Pocket-Sized Rechargeable Power Supply

Overview

The project was created to provide a practical output that can be applied to a wide variety of digital components since the voltage output of this rechargeable power supply is 5VDC.

Explanation

The implementation of a 2-pin plug makes this power supply even better since it can be quickly and easily snapped into a common 2-pin header for a reliable and solid power connection. A push button ON/OFF switch can be added along with a USB rechargeable interface in order to have a versatile power supply that can be slipped inside the pocket.

During the construction, the 5V barrel power connector is removed from the LiPo charger which is temporarily installed inside the project box and will be removed after marking the location. Two holes re drilled in the side of the box to enable access for the external power wires as well as ventilation holes in the box lid to enable reading the status indicator LED of the LiPo charger during battery recharging.

The operation of SPST switch is tested with a multimeter making sure that the external power wires are receiving 5VDC upon pressing the SPST switch after removing the USB cable.
