Door Unlocker Using RFID

Door Unlocker Using RFID

Overview

The RFID door unlocker is based on a PIC16F630 microcontroller in which the purpose is to unlock any college dorm doors by allowing a serial of password to be entered on the other side via a PS/2 keyboard.

Details

In the old version, if the external keyboard mounted on the other side of the door typed the correct password, the signal will be simply sent to the circuit by a 486 laptop. A much more precise control of the distance that the string travelled to pull the doorknob is allowed by just using the stepper motor tracking for the head. This also comes with an LCD display mounted through the door and separated from its 33MHz NEC laptop. After unscrewing the provided eyehole, the wires are sent through the hole. The LCD display allows messages to be left by the people.

The current version has a string attached to the sliding head where a typewriter head would have been and is tied to a C-clamp where the door handle is grasped. The system utilizes a PIC16F630 microcontroller attached to a PS/2 keyboard with each coil of the stepper motor being driven by 4 IRL520 transistors.
