Locater Device for Ham Radio Repeater
|
|
Overview A ZiLOG microcomputer comprises the Ham Radio Repeater Locator which has flash memory used to store the frequencies and locations of several thousand repeaters. Details The distance to the nearest 8 repeaters is being displayed by the system. To automatically program the scan memory to scan the nearest repeaters, an optional interface to the ham radio transceiver is used which eliminates the need for the operator to change the tuning of the radio as new repeaters draw closer into the range. The locations of the repeaters are given as cities or mountains and without this locator, the user may need to find which are nearby on a map. The ubiquitous 4-line by 16-character LCD alphanumeric display is presented on the breadboard of the system. This will be used to display the distances in miles, on the top two lines, to the nearest 8 repeaters. The detailed information for one of 8 repeaters is shown in the third line wherein the number to one of the 8 repeaters is represented by the first digit. The next repeater is selected by pressing the button which will return back to the first after selecting the 8th. Rest of the project
